# Merge Ready

> Merge Ready is an AI agent skill for Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, and other agents that read SKILL.md. Takes a branch from code that exists to a pull request ready for final review. Best for: Claude Code review skill.

- URL: https://atharvashah.com/ai-skills/merge-ready
- Price: $49, one payment
- Works with: Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cursor, GitHub Copilot
- Category: Agents and engineering
- Built by: Atharva Shah (https://atharvashah.com)
- Requirements: Needs a paid Claude plan with Claude Code, git, the GitHub CLI, and a single CI check command in your repo. Parallel review agents use a lot of your plan, so a Max plan fits daily use.
- Buy: https://buy.polar.sh/polar_cl_R6zXD453Fqls2A2MvMzI0peVQkdv2aw1TZP2c1jBqZo?custom_field_data.skill-premium=merge-ready (the skill folder and setup guide arrive by email)

## Your branch, reviewed and fixed before you open it.

Parallel reviewers check every change, a second agent tries to disprove each finding, and only the verified ones get fixed. You get a green CI run and a pull request that tells you where to look first.

## What it produces

- **The merged pull request.** You get a pull request that names every file it changed and why, ready for a fast review. ![A real merged GitHub pull request, tilted, showing the title, the Merged badge, and a What Changed section listing each file.](https://atharvashah.com/ai-skills/merge-ready/scene-1.webp)
- **Where to look first.** The PR names the gap it could not close, so your review starts in the right place. ![Crop of a real pull request with the heading One Gap to Close Before Merge circled in red.](https://atharvashah.com/ai-skills/merge-ready/scene-2.webp)
- **Gates in the PR.** Every check the branch passed is listed in the PR, with a reason for any exception. ![The Gates section of a real merged pull request, listing build and writing checks, above the merged commit event.](https://atharvashah.com/ai-skills/merge-ready/scene-3.webp)

## From code that works to a PR worth reviewing.

Ask for a feature and say "make it merge-ready", or point it at a branch that already exists.

1. **It syncs and reviews.** It merges the main branch in and commits that on its own. Then parallel reviewers read every change, including staged, unstaged, and new files.
2. **It checks the checkers.** A second agent tries to disprove each serious finding against the real code. Only verified fixes land, in commits grouped by concern.
3. **You review last.** CI passes, the branch is pushed, and the PR says what changed and where the risk sits. You read it and merge it yourself.

## Review bots comment. This one verifies and fixes.

Most AI review tools leave a pile of comments on the PR. Half of them are wrong, and you still do the fixes.

### Merge Ready

- **Verified before fixed.** A second agent argues against each finding first.
- **Fixes and CI.** It applies fixes and loops until the check passes.
- **Your repo rules.** Lasting lessons go into your repo instructions file.
- **You merge.** It stops at a PR ready for your final read.

### AI review bots

- **Comments only.** You still write every fix yourself.
- **Unverified findings.** False alarms sit next to real bugs with equal weight.
- **Blind to new files.** Uncommitted work never reaches the review.
- **Per-seat pricing.** The bill grows with every person on the repo.

### Waiting on a teammate

- **Days in the queue.** The PR sits while everyone ships their own work.
- **Nitpick rounds.** Three rounds of comments on naming and dead code.
- **Tired eyes.** Security and cost paths get a skim on a busy day.
- **No release notes.** Someone writes those from memory at release time.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can Claude Code review a pull request?

Yes. This skill runs several focused reviewers over the change, has a second agent try to disprove each finding, applies the fixes that survive, and updates the pull request.

### Does it merge the PR?

No. It stops at a pushed branch and an open PR. You review and merge.

### What does it review for?

Five areas by default: needless complexity, security, paths that cost money without being metered, project idioms, and leftover cruft. You tune them to your repo in setup.

### Why verify the findings?

AI reviewers raise false alarms. A second agent checks each serious finding against the real code and rejects the wrong ones, with a reason you can read.

### Does it review uncommitted files?

Yes. Staged, unstaged, and untracked files all go to the reviewers, so a new file cannot slip past.

### Which Claude plan do I need?

A paid plan with Claude Code. Pro runs small branches. A Max plan fits daily use, because each run starts many agents.

### What else do I need?

Git, the free GitHub CLI, and one command in your repo that runs format, lint, and type checks. It works in any language that has those.

### What do the release notes look like?

One screen. A What's new list that names each feature, a short Fixed list of bugs users would notice, and credit for outside contributors. Every line traces to a commit.

### Can it build the feature too?

Yes. Ask for the feature and add "make it merge-ready". It builds, commits as it goes, and reviews the whole branch at the end.

### What if the first review misses something?

Add the missed rule to your repo instructions file. Every later run reads that file before it reviews.

### Does this skill work with Gemini CLI, Codex, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot?

Yes, with one caveat. The skill is a SKILL.md folder in the Agent Skills open standard, which Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cursor, and GitHub Copilot all load. It is built and tested on Claude Code. Steps that lean on Claude-only features, such as parallel subagents, run one after another or need a manual step in other agents.

### How do I install an agent skill?

Copy the skill folder into your agent's skills directory: ~/.claude/skills for Claude Code, or the skills folder your agent documents for Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or Copilot. The agent reads the description and loads the skill when your request matches it. Each skill ships with a setup guide for any tool it needs.
